On 24 April 2026, the partners of the SURFAV project met for the pre-kick-off meeting, marking the beginning of a new cross-border initiative focused on hybrid manufacturing technologies. The project brings together universities, research centres and industrial partners from Spain and France with the aim of improving the performance, quality and sustainability of high-value-added components through the combination of additive manufacturing, conventional manufacturing and surface engineering technologies.
During the meeting, the consortium reviewed the project objectives, work packages and expected outcomes. Particular attention was given to the development of hybrid manufacturing routes, advanced surface treatments, predictive models and industrial demonstrators for sectors such as automotive, aerospace and tooling. The session also served to align partners and prepare the activities required for the official start of the project.
