ABOUT SURFAV
Consortium overview
SURFAV brings together universities, research centres and industrial partners from both sides of the Pyrenees. The consortium combines expertise in advanced manufacturing, surface engineering, artificial intelligence and industrial applications to accelerate innovation across the POCTEFA territory.

UPNA
The Public University of Navarra (UPNA) is a public university founded in 1987, with campuses in Pamplona and Tudela. Recognised for its strong commitment to engineering, applied research and knowledge transfer, UPNA plays a leading role in Navarre’s research and innovation ecosystem. Its research activity is structured around specialised research institutes, university–industry chairs and technology-based spin-offs.
Tecnun – Universidad de Navarra
Tecnun is the School of Engineering of the University of Navarra and one of Spain’s most prestigious engineering institutions. Based in San Sebastián, it combines academic excellence with a strong industrial orientation, carrying out research and innovation projects in collaboration with companies at regional, national and international level.
EHU
The University of the Basque Country (EHU) is the largest university in the Basque Country and a leading research institution with a strong presence in engineering, materials science and advanced manufacturing. Through its research groups and innovation ecosystem, EHU supports the development of technologies with real industrial impact.
UTTOP
Université de Technologie Tarbes Occitanie Pyrénées (UTTOP) is a French technological university focused on engineering, innovation and industrial partnerships. Its mission is to connect education, research and industry to address emerging technological challenges and support regional competitiveness.
UPPA
Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour (UPPA) is an internationally recognised research university with strengths in engineering sciences, materials, energy and industrial technologies. The university is particularly known for developing research that addresses major societal and industrial challenges.
AXYAL
AXYAL is an engineering and technology company specialising in industrial innovation and high-value technical solutions. With extensive experience in industrial projects and technology deployment, AXYAL helps bridge the gap between research outcomes and practical implementation.
Talleres Carlos Gómez
Talleres Carlos Gómez is a highly specialised industrial company with extensive experience in precision machining and the manufacture of complex components for demanding sectors and specialized in the manufacture of plastic injection molds. Its expertise in industrial production and advanced manufacturing processes provides valuable practical insight to the consortium.
